Diya Lighting Foreign Embassy Officials

Amid the times when the coronavirus outbreak is not showing any sign of weakening, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressed the nation and urged the citizens to light a diya/candle/torch/mobile flashlights at 9 pm for 9 minutes on 5th April as a gesture that we all stand with each other during these testing times and nobody is alone.

Just like 5 pm applause call for medical workers on 22nd March 2020, the masses seemed to be excited about the diya lighting call also. At sharp 9 pm on 5th April the nation demonstrated that how they stand united in fight against the dreaded coronavirus.

Surprisingly, Head of foreign offices of many countries also participated in this activity. China’s ambassador Sun Weidong lighted a Diya and posted a picture on twitter. He mentioned that China and India are standing together during these tough times and wished an early victory for India against the cronavirus epidemic.

German Ambassador Walter J Linder posted a picture of lit candle and paid tribute to all the frontline workers who are risking their lives to help the world get through this crisis.

Multiple pictures of candle and diyas were also posted on the official handle of Israel’s foreign affairs office in India, while Ms. Maya Kadosh (Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi) shared a video in which she is holding a lit candle and is giving a message that together we will fight the darkness of COVID19.

Twitter handle of European Union’s office in India also had posted a picture of lit candles.

Irish Embassy in India too joined in this activity. It posted a picture of candle on twitter applauding all those who are working hard on frontline for their fellow human beings.

Many others joined this activity too..

Thank You
