In view of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) across the country, the State Government of Gujarat has decided to shut down all educational institutions, cinema halls etc. across the state for two weeks. Gujarat Chief Secretary Anil Mukim gave this information through media on 15th March 2020. He informed that all schools, colleges, tuition classes, anganwadi centers in Gujarat will be closed from 16th March 2020 to 29th March 2020. There will be no teaching work in the institutes; however teaching and non-teaching staff have to remain present at the institute.

In addition to this, all the cinema halls and swimming pools in Gujarat will also remain closed from 16th March 2020 to 29th March 2020. Mr. Mukim asserted that this Government order will be strictly implemented.

Rs. 500 fine for Spitting in Public Places:
Spitting in public, which itself is very unhealthy has been brought under the Government radar in wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Gujarat Government has passed an order, under which anyone found spitting at public places will be subjected to a fine of Rs. 500/-
Coronavirus infections and Death Cases in India:
Just like many other countries, spread of coronavirus has reached alarming levels in India as well. Similar to precautionary measures taken by Gujarat Government, many other states have ordered shutdown of educational institution and other public places like historical monuments till 31st March 2020. At the time of writing this article, the number confirmed cases of coronavirus infection has reached 113 in India, which includes 17 foreign nationals. Unfortunately, two patients have died due to this disease. A 76-year-old patient died in Karnataka while a 68-year-old woman died in Delhi on 14th March 2020.
Highest Cases of Coronavirus in Maharashtra:
Among the states, highest number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus infection has been reported from Maharashtra where 38 patients have tested positive. Maharashtra is followed by Kerala (23 confirmed cases) and Uttar Pradesh (12 confirmed cases).
